32 year old Raghu Ramappa is a popular figure in the Bangalore film industry. He won the Musclemania® India Lightweight championship and is the lead for two new Kannada movies this year. He says "I was always a hardcore enthusiast of bodybuilding. I've been training for 16 years now and my lower body conditioning is due to heavy lifting and cycling 150kms every weekend. My dad was a competitive bodybuilder and I wanted to follow his footsteps. I was in the industry competing for 4 years, from 2002-2006. But being natural and winning shows where 'enhanced' freaks come is close to impossible. I was distraught and gave up on competing. But when I recently learned about Musclemania coming to India promoting natural shows, it gave me hope and I've been training harder than ever to get back into prime form. And thanks to my dad, my biggest inspiration, who at 62yrs recently won a local competition, I've managed to win my first show after 8 years!!! Something I never imagined being a part of even until a few weeks back!" He continues "Dad is still in the reality TV show Big Boss, and we haven't spoken in months. He doesn't even know the result yet. When he asked the crew to call me, they refused and the entire state of Karnataka was shocked to see him break down Live. He was always known to be a strong person, so this came as a shock and I couldn't sleep all night. The ZEE TV network said it was to surprise him later when we get my pictures and complete posing routines. I hope to get them soon so he can celebrate my victory."
Raghu aims at Gold once again this year. Having gained over okgs of musclemass since last December, the 5'7" star is now 77kgs and looks forward to representing India in the Las Vegas World Championships.
